Curated by Emma-Charlotte Gobry-Laurencin & Christian Alandete
With the complicity of Atlantic Art Space by Marie-Sophie Eiché-Demester and of Stephan Koehler, Opening 06 February 2025, 18:00, 6, Rue du Pont de Lodi, 75006 Paris. Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 7pm +33(0)1562 40363. Adéagbo conceived for his first solo show at Kamel Mennour a room with his interpretations of surrealism from his non-western perspective as a poet and storyteller. He turns European artists' and collectors' appropriation of African art at the beginning of the 20th century into a boomerang by having their "master-works" copied in Benin and bringing it back to Paris. In the entrance hall of the gallery he introduces visitors to turning points in his career: he had photos of exhibitions and encounters with curators such as documenta 11, Venice Biennial 1999, Moderna Museum 2014 and others painted as graphic novels with his texts in Benin. Several objects form with those pages of his life small constellations: Adéagbo's musée imaginaire.
